We have drawn up specific profiles for each of our study programmes that satisfy different study interests and requirements:
The BA in Political Science addresses interdisciplinary issues (also in terms of module denominations) and covers a broad range of electives.
The MA in Political Science is a research-oriented course; students gain an insight into research and are involved in research projects by tutors.
The MA in European Integration in East Central Europe has a regional, transnational focus. The programme is predominantly practice-oriented towards topics associated with political and economic development and comprises a semester abroad. Students who opt to enrol on the double degree programme attain not only the EIECE MA from Leipzig University but also the MA in International Relations from Andrássy University Budapest.
The teaching study programmes in social studies are closely tied into fundamental research and teaching. They ensure highly qualified, subject-specific teaching and guarantee an excellent ratio of breadth and depth in terms of teaching content.
We also impart political science knowledge to students from other institutes and faculties. Around 180 fellow students from over twenty other study programmes in the social sciences and humanities faculties are currently taking political science modules as electives. The Institute of Political Science also provides teaching in programmes beyond the institute, e.g. in the MA in American Studies, MA in European Studies, BSc in Geography, MA in German Language and Literature, MA in Radio Production, MA in Philosophy, and the MSc in Economic and Social Geography.
