On this page, exchange students from abroad will find the most important information and documents needed for the organization of their studies in our faculty.

Exchange Institutes in our Faculty

The information found on this page is meant for those who are coming to Leipzig as part of an Cooperation Agreement with the Faculty for Social Sciences and Philosophy.

Information for Planning your Exchange Semester in Leipzig

In order for you to study with us during your exchange semester in Leipzig, you will have to prepare a few things before the semester begins. The main thing is the Learning Agreement, which will establish which modules you will be completing in Leipzig. You can only register for modules and exams when the Learning Agreement has been submitted by the deadline.

Template Learning Agreement

The first step is the completion of the Learning Agreement, which can be edited after arrival in Leipzig. The Learning Agreement is the base for your Erasmus study exchange. It will control the recognition of the academic achievements you make abroad. Please begin with your study agreement early, the so-called Learning Agreement, in order to collect all of the necessary signatures before your stay abroad. Complete the Learning Agreement only with complete modules and not for individual classes (which are most of the time different every semester). Below, you can find more information about which modules you can take and to what extent.

Places in modules of your cooperation partner’s study program can be guaranteed. Module places in another study program may be limited and a place cannot be guaranteed, even if you state the module in your Learning Agreement. If you do not get the planned place in another degree program, you can adjust the Learning Agreement afterwards.

In regards to the content of the modules, you can orient yourself by the course catalogues from previous years. Please consider, however, that the content of the seminars changes every year. The current course catalogues are usually released at the beginning of September (winter semester) or at the beginning of March (summer semester) on the websites of the faculty’s institutes.
Please send the Learning Agreement to the Helpdesk of the faculty by the deadline.
Exchange students via the Global and European Studies Institute should submit the Learning Agreement directly to Stephan Kaschner.

Submit the Learning Agreeement for summer semester 2024 between 04 and 14 March 2024!

Please observe the compulsory deadline for the forwarding of the Learning Agreement, as you cannot register for modules electronically without it.

After having submitted your Learning Agreement on time to the Helpdesk of the faculty (or Stephan Kaschner, if you come via the Global and European Studies Institute to Leipzig), you can electronically register yourself for modules and exams.

ADVICE FOR MODULE REGISTRATION IN OUR FACULTY

If you have questions regarding module registration, you can contact the Helpdesk in our faculty.

The Helpdesk will offer a mandatory informational meeting in time for the module registration for all exchange students in our faculty, where all necessary information regarding the registration and organization of your studies in Leipzig will be given.

Module Registration in other University Faculties
In order to register for modules within study programs outside of the Faculty for Social Sciences and Philosophy, please contact the respective faculty. Please make sure to register for classes digitally. Only this way will you be able to receive an electronic Transcript of Records at the end of your stay.
If this is not possible, you will have to confirm your participation in classes and exams another way. Consult with responsible employees in the other faculties about this.

Study offices of other faculties

For your native university, you will need a Transcript of Records listing the modules you participated in and the academic achievements made at the University of Leipzig. The transcript will be generated digitally if the following conditions are met:

  • You have come to our faculty in Leipzig for an exchange with an cooperation agreement
  • You have been digitally registered for modules and exams in AlmaWeb (a simple confirmation from a teacher will not suffice)
  • Grades have been submitted by teachers or exam managers to AlmaWeb

You will receive your Transcript of Records from your exchange program’s Erasmus coordinator in Leipzig.
