The China International Public Relations Conference 2020 kicked off in Beijing on 17 November 2020 with a presentation by Professor Ansgar Zerfaß (University of Leipzig). More than 2,400 executives from communication departments and agencies attended; including 200 on site in the Chinese capital and more than 2,200 virtually.

Ansgar Zerfaß's presentation on "Strategic Communication - A Conceptual Overview and Learnings for the PR Industry" was also realised in this way. The content was about the quintessence of strategic communication work and the danger of losing sight of operational tasks that are just as relevant to success by overusing the concept.

In addition to Zerfaß, speakers included Roger Bolton, President of the Arthur W. Page Society, New York, and the heads of communications of the Chinese corporations Geely (automotive) and PetroChina (energy).

The most important conference of the Chinese PR industry takes place every two years. This year the motto (translated) was "Public Relations: Empowering for The Chang World". The industry association CIPRA (China International Public Relations Society) represents around 500 companies, agencies and state organisations in the world's most populous country.
