Abstract

Since 2022, Georg Lorenz leads the DFG-funded research project SERIOUS (link to project website: https://www.sozphil.uni-leipzig.de/institut-fuer-soziologie/bereiche/projekt-serious) at the Department of Sociology. Additionally, Georg Lorenz is a research group leader at University of Potsdam. The BMBF-funded research group MuHiK studies multidimensional diversity in schools.

His research interests include discrimination, the emergence and societal effects of social networks, inequality (with a focus on education), and social cohesion. Georg Lorenz offers Bachelor courses dealing with social capital, social influence, cohesion, and methods for social network analysis.
