Kurzprofil

Georg Lorenz leitet seit 2022 das DFG-Projekt „Social Embeddedness in Social Networks and the Reproduction of Socioeconomic Inequality in Educational Attainments (SERIOUS)“ am Institut für Soziologie. Seine Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen die Themengebiete Sozialstruktur, Diskriminierung, Ungleichheit und soziale Netzwerke. Im Bachelor-Studiengang lehrt er zu den Themen Sozialkapital, soziale Ansteckungsprozesse, Bildungsungleichheit und sozialer Zusammenhalt sowie zu Methoden der sozialen Netzwerkanalyse.


Daneben ist Georg Lorenz Postdoc an der Humanwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Potsdam. Als Projektkoordinator des BMBF-geförderten Projekts „Multidimensionale Heterogenität im Klassenzimmer: Messung, Effekte, Mechanismen (MuHuK)“ leitet er dort eine Forschungsgruppe, die sich mit der Messung, dem Ausmaß und den Auswirkungen mehrdimensionaler Diversität im Kontext von Schule beschäftigt.


Georg Lorenz wurde 2017 an der Otto-Friedrich-Universität Bamberg promoviert.
