Teaching Philosophy

Probably the greatest importance of the subject social studies lies in the education towards maturity (Theodor W. Adorno). In order to meet this requirement, I try to implement a high degree of personal activity and personal responsibility in my courses.

Since not only the content of the respective seminars is relevant in subject didactic or pedagogical contexts, but the course per se is the subject of the learning process, the recognition and reflection of the meta-level is permanently at the center of my efforts.

I would like to name a third focus with the connectivity of the knowledge or skills learned. In addition to the relevance for practical school lessons, I am primarily concerned with the question: "What does all this have to do with me?" Because without a connection between the person of the learner and the respective content, no sustainable learning takes place. It is all the more important at this point to name self-determination, learning from experience and ultimately maturity as the goal and basis of my teaching-learning philosophy.
