How do I receive a grade overview / a Transcript of Records?
Write me an email (or call me) with the issuance request along with your student number. The document will then be available in AlmaWeb to download.
Grade overviews are in German or English and are at a module or lecture level, and can be issued with or without a signature. Standardly, you will receive the German version at a lecture level without a signature.

How do I go forward with a doctor’s note?
The process time for exams can be impacted by illness and the deadline can be postponed. A doctor’s note (via email is acceptable) must be submitted for this. The announcement must happen at one, that means without a culpable delay. If the submission of the doctor’s note should be delayed, i.e. due to postal shipping by the the doctor’s office, please communicate this to me.
A doctor’s note that is submitted more than three days after issuance will no longer be valid.
Please give the following information when sending the doctor’s note: Module (number), lecture, teacher, and deadline. You and your teacher will then receive an answer from me with a new deadline.

What happens after the submission of the final thesis?
The bachelor’s and master thesis will be forwarded to the reviewers, who then have to assess and grade within six weeks. As soon as evaluation is submitted, you will find a notice in the BA/MA module overview. When both evaluations are submitted, you will then see the final grade of your thesis in AlmaWeb.
If your AlmaWeb access has ended due to de-registration, you will receive the information upon request via email or telephone from me.
Upon request via email, I will send you the evaluation for viewing via email.

How and when do I receive my degree certificate?
When all necessary exams are successfully completed, I will compile your certificate documents. Usually the final thesis, or for the Bachelor Communication and Media Studies the mandatory internship, is the last exam. If the last exam belongs to another module, you can let me know after you complete this module.
As soon as the certificate is created, you will receive a message from me via email. After this, you can either pick up the certificate in person or it will be sent to you with a return receipt.

Current news about exams you find here

Credit Overviews
in German and/or English will be released upon request. This usually happens in AlmaWeb.
Necessary credit overviews with a signature can be picked up personally or can be sent by mail.

Exam Results
can be seen in AlmaWeb. If there is a disagreement, it is highly recommend to seek out clarification.

Taking Modules
When planning which modules to take and when registering for them via TOOL, please be aware that already passed modules cannot be taken again. The same goes for modules that were taken in previous semester, but were not successfully completed.

Certificates of Disability
Must be sent by mail or electronically within three business days to the exam management office. They are a valid reason to miss an exam and, for exams to be completed at home, are a reason for a due date to be pushed back.

Exam Make Up
Doctor’s notes should be submitted within three business days to the exam management office along with the student and module number. A special registration for a make up is not necessary. If there is no timely date for a make up exam, the registration in AlmaWeb will occur for the next available exam date.

Repeat Exam
See §4 of the exam regulations for the respective bachelor’s or master’s study program and §35 (3) and (4) as well as §114 from the so-called SächsHSFG from January 15th, 2013 and the updated version from December 17th, 2020.
The first repeat exam must be registered for in writing and by the deadline in the exam management office. The exam must be completed within one year.
A second repeat exam has to be requested for in writing to the exam commission. The exam must be completed at the next possible exam date. If the deadline for the repeat exam is missed, the exam will be failed permanently. Further information can be found under “Exam Results”.

Exam Documents
can be picked up in-person with an appointment. Upon request, they can be sent by mail (registered mail/return receipt) if an address is given.
The certificate documents will be prepared as soon as all necessary credits are completed, usually without a separate application. If credits from a partial elective module from a different subject are the last to be completed, the student will need to let the exam management office know.
If more credits than necessary were completed, the FORM FOR EXTRA CREDITS should be filled out.

Exceeding the Standard Period of Study
See the so-called SächsHSFG from January 15th, 2013 and the updated version from December 17th, 2020, §35 (4); §20 and §114a.
If the standard period of study has been exceeded more than four semesters, all exams that have not been completed up until that point will be regarded as failed for the first time. If the repeat exams are missed, the exams will be failed indefinitely. Times involved as a selected representative in a student committee can be considered if proof is given. In this context, please consider the newly written §114a “Extending the standard period of study due to the COVID-19 pandemic” in the aforementioned SächsHSFG.

Master’s Applications
A credit overview with a prognosis regarding the anticipated completion of a study program can be requested in the exam management office. For this, it is necessary to send an email prior with the modules (module number) that may still be open from previous semesters and which modules (module number) are being taken in the current semester.

Recognition of Exam Credits
Information regarding the application for getting credits recognized can be found on the website of the FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND PHILOSOPHY:

Study and Exam Regulations
can be viewed in the OFFICIAL NOTICIES.
